Workshop Descriptions

Workshops offered by Educational Systems may be used as required professional development hours (CEU’s).
Educational Systems offers different workshops for faculty to tune-up their skills each semester. Workshops are conducted across campus. Some sessions will be in computer labs to accommodate individual hands-on experiences. We offer multiple sessions of the same workshop for your convenience. Come once or come as often as you wish…but, please, be sure to reserve your space!

Blackboard I - Come and see blackboard in action, find out if this tool can help you communicate and make your material even more available to students. At the end of the workshop, faculty who want to try the system out will be given accounts and practice blackboard shells (classes).

Blackboard II - Come and learn what your peers are doing with Blackboard. Find out what works, what doesn't and how to improve on your already established classes. Additionally we will look at some tools available for your use. Please note this forum is a discussion amongst peers.

Creating a Website - Learn the six steps to create a successful website that are required before beginning to compose the website: Purpose; Audience; Content: Structure; Web Page Theme; Navigation;

Excel Grade Book - Use Excel to calculate grades! One of the great features of Excel is the grade book template. This workshop will cover customizing the template and using Excel to calculate grades, find the class average, determine high/low scores, and more!

New Smart Lecture Hall (CM 1211) - Learn to use all the technology available for instruction in the new CM1211. Chris Bolla

Photoshop I - Learn the ins and outs of Photoshop: Cropping; Recoloring: Adding Text: Combining Pictures to make a collage.

PowerPoint - PowerPoint as a classroom tool! In addition to creating and editing slides we'll cover the usage of special features for slideshows for classroom presentations. These features include motion paths, clip art and background templates online, hiding slides, and some tips for student handouts.

Smart Classroom Introduction - Interested in using Mott's smart classrooms to present materials to your students? This presentation will take you through the basics of using Mott's smart classrooms.

Using Nvu-the new application to develop a Web Site - Learn what is required to create a web site: Setting up a site; creating a template; creating links; inserting images; using CSS to control the look.
