Viewing, Listening & Testing Center

The Viewing, Listening & Testing Center is a hub of activity for Distance Learning Students, it also performs as a make-up testing location, a multi-media center for recording and duplication and a center for reserved materials.

Services for Distance Learning Students

  • Pick-up and return your class materials: Videotapes, CD’s and Lab kits.
  • Take your tests here on a walk-in basis during regular hours of operation.

Allow adequate time to complete your test. The last test is given out no later than one hour prior to closing. Completed tests are forwarded to the instructor for grading.

  • Security Procedures are enforced to insure fairness for all students.

    Services for MCC Traditional Classroom Students - top

    • By prior arrangement of your instructor, the VLTC will administer make-up tests for students. This is not a replacement for in-class testing, but it does provide a consistent, secure manner for make-up testing.
    • Students must follow the Security Procedures used for Distance Learning students.
    • Viewing center for Audio/Video materials for class assignments or extra credit work. These materials must be viewed in the VLTC and are not available for check-out. Students may be asked to record their attendance.

    Services for Faculty - top

    • Upon an instructor’s request the VLTC will administer a make-up test. Test materials will be forwarded to the instructor for grading. Students will be required to follow the VLTC Security Procedures.
    • Programs from broadcast television can be videotaped. Please note: due to copyright law, these materials can only be maintained for 45 days and are available for viewing only.
    • Audio and video tapes can be duplicated for classroom use.
    • AV instructional materials, including videotapes, DVDs or CDs, can be reserved for student assignments or extra-credit work. These materials are only available for use in the VLTC, not for check-out. Attendance records can be maintained if the instructor so requests.

    Security Procedures - top

    • Students must show a picture ID and a copy of their current class schedule (available from WebAdvisor)
    • Students must sign the testing information book. Required information: name, student number, class, test number, test form number and date.
    • Students must sit in the VLTC. Video camera surveillance is used.
    • All coats and books must be checked at the office prior to receiving test.
    • No children are allowed in the VLTC.
    • Students may not leave the VLTC once they have started a test.
    • All cell phones and pagers must be turned off in the VLTC.
