ARTIST'S STATEMENT
Julia Asselin
This title of this composition reflects both the colors used and
the way it feels. The blues and greens in my work remind me of the
newness of Springtime in Michigan while the light and airy flowing
music gives me a feeling of something fresh and alive.
Since I have been interested in vocal music all
of my life, I incorporated this into my piece. The keyboard and
sheet music shown are important parts of my studies of vocal music.
I also enjoy drawing and painting which helps me to relax, unwind,
and to express myself. In the sky I have the Girl Scout symbol.
I have been involved with Girl Scouting as a leader for many years.
By being a leader, I have the opportunity to be involved in the
community and to help girls shine. The large cross in
the sky represents my faith and its impact on my life.
The house in my composition represents my family,
my home, and my role in the family, all of which is very important
to me.
